Robert Organ (1933 - 2023) was a painter, draughtsman, architectural designer and teacher, born in Somerset, his father being the architect, Edward Organ. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, where notable teachers of his were George Sweet and Claude Rogers. Early in his career he combined his practice with teaching painting and drawing at Falmouth School of Art. After that he became a full-time painter and was a member of RWA, exhibiting at Beaux Arts Gallery, Bath, and Newlyn Orion Gallery from 1983; Browse & Darby from 1984; and Exeter Museum, 1987. In 2003, Jenny Pery’s study ‘By the Look of Things The Life and Work of Robert Organ’. More information on the artist can be found in his obituaries in the The Times and The Guardian.
